I've been hanging out with some neighbour girls (7 and 8), they've noticed my scars and asked about them. I'm not sure how to answer their questions, I've simply told them it's nothing they need to worry about. I am afraid I might be a bad influence and was wondering how I could talk about self injury scars to children. I've also noticed adults giving me dirty looks and avoidant glances, I feel like that witch that everyone calls mean and crazy, who lives on the end of the street and talks to no one... these girls have really changed my life. Last thing I need is more misunderstanding and all the neighbours hating me.

Sigh. It all sounds so simple in principle, but when you roll in the politics.... Well, good luck. Perhaps you can fall back on the old "You'll understand when you're older" gambit.

@chaton_en_colere

A simple. I got hurt.
That answer the question accurately without being dishonest. Without too much info

I don’t mean to be rude and I am not judgmental.......am trying to understand the context of how old are you. how much “hanging out” with these two little kids do you do? How many scars/what do they see?

Is it possible to wear clothes that cover the scars?

@NCMom I'm 31, they're both 8 pretty much. They would come round in the warmer weather, but since going back to school and the one girl traveled, I haven't seen them in almost 2 weeks. When we were having 30+ temperatures I was wearing short sleeves, they saw the worst of the scars, years of scars upon scars. I'm not a creep if that's what you're thinking, they approached me on my porch and the one girl loves my cats.
