How do you know when your marriage is finally over...Several years ago, somebody told me that my husband was controlling and emotionally abusive..This broke my heart how could that be my husband hasn't hurt me, but now I can see that he has emotionally hurt me in someways..We have been married for 40 years with no children and through all those years there has been problems but not didn't think they were serious enough to end our marriage..

@pam4him I think individual counseling would be better, because my husband isn't interested in going to couples counseling ,,Besides we have already tried that and it didn't work out,,My husband felt I was the one who had all of the issues ,,Praying might help but am not a very religious person.

@froggymom I strongly agree in getting some individual counseling which I have already looked into just need to make an appointment ..I didn't think I had a problem with my self-esteem but maybe I do. I definitely think it would help address all the issues I have had with my husband,

@Hurt54 I am definitely not in any kind of rut, But have looked into getting some individual counseling to find how we ended up this way in our marriage..Forty years is a very long time to be married to one person ,,And we have hurt each other emotionally ..I will try to stay strong..Thank you..
