If you are no longer happy being with the other person, it is then time to consider your options. Yes, relationships are hard, and we can outgrow each other

@Summer You can consider giving up a relationship when it has become emotionally abusive and you have tried counseling only to find there is no change. In other words, you know that love is no longer there from your partner or you no longer feel love for them.

You should give up a relationship immediately and move on with your life any time it is physically abusive or life threatening (such as threatening you with a gun or knife).

It's important to understand that you have no obligation in a relationship. All you will ever have is an opportunity to make it better for yourself and your partner. If you have tried and it is not happening, it’s time to move on.

Only give up if you have exhaused all options (if you are married) if you are not married, remain true to yourself and move on. In the end you will be helping the person find someone also that can love them in a genuine way. remember they also deserve love as you do. Set them free and set yourself free.
