I have found somewhere in my area that offers EMDR and PC. I have read the info on what those types of therapy are because I had no idea. Now I have to decide what route to take. I need help!!!!!
I'm uber nervous about going straight into intensive outpatient therapy. I'm scared that I won't be able to handle it and spiral into a complete breakdown (I've had at least 4 of these in my almost 40 years). My husband is very supportive and thinks I can manage and should just go ahead with it. I love his confidence in me and wish I had more of that!
I have heard good things about EMDR, but don't know a lot about it. I do know that most therapists worth their salt will make sure you are emotionally stable enough and have coping skills to manage triggers you that come up when working on trauma. They will watch for signs you are being triggered and help you through that. Talk about your concerns with your therapist and see if they can put your mind at ease about the process. Confidence is something you develop and just by making this step and being willing to face this head on tells you something about your courage.
@Tealy thanks for the support! I'll definitely keep y'all updated ;-)
@aion wow so much wisdom you have. I appreciate the advice!
