I'm feeling overwhelmed. I think I might cut tonight. But I'm surrounded by people right now and away from home so I have time to make the decision.

That is an excellent question! Gosh, yes, I've definitely been afraid to write my thoughts! For those of us who have experienced the dark trenches of life, it can be scary to see the reality of it all through words. Know that the words serve only as a tool though; no one needs to see them, and you don't even have to re-read them if you don't want to -- you can ceremonially throw away what you write after writing it!
Know that it definitely gets easier to write your feelings the more you do it. Sometimes I sit down to write, and my perfectionism keeps me from expressing how I feel because I become so concerned with trying to write something that's 'good enough.' Or sometimes I'm simply too afraid to actualize my experiences by putting them into words. But I always start with just one word. For example, I'll sit down to write and just write, "Lonely." From there, that seems to open the door for me, and more starts to come out. Again, it doesn't matter what I write or what it sounds like in the end; what's important is to just write.
So many of us have bottled up emotions that need to be worked through and released. Writing is my release. Art is a great form of release in general, as a lot of beauty comes from it when it's combined with authenticity.

Yaaay! That's so wonderful! You are so strong for taking the step toward understanding and letting go of the emotions to which you feel bound. :)
