I have diffused large B cell lymphoma double hit. I started my chemo treatments yesterday morning. I started with rituximab now on etoposide phosphate, vincristine sulfate & doxorubicin hydrochloride combined, also call orange crush here. I am now on my second bag of the orange crush. Thus far no very negative side affects except for some constipation. My treatments are 5 days in the hospital with 3 weeks home for 6 cycles. I'm hooked up for the entire 5 day stay. I shaved my head to avoid my hair falling off........saves some depression. I walked 1.23 miles with no problems. I still have 4 days to go yet, still too early. I suspect more symptoms to come.
Also, the way my husband found out he had lymphoma was that initially it was thought he had testicular cancer. After the operation and pathology - they then discovered it was lymphoma. There's many different kinds from what I am learning.
I'm on my fourth day of treatment and thus far I'm had some systems but nothing very significant. I did though wake up this morning with a slight stomach ache but medication took care of care of that. I ate breakfast and went on a 1.5 mile walk. Not very hungry for lunch but getting ready to eat what I can and get another mile in later today.......gotta stay active as much as possible. My support system is unique for the fact that my fiancé, daughter and son can all work from home so I have someone with me All the time. Don't get me wrong, its hard on everybody but the key is you MUST also take care of yourself. Get out long enough to exercise and/or sit in sauna or steamroom. Otherwise the stress will get to you. I think this is why I developed lymphoma, via too much stress, You've got to control it. It weakens your ammune system tremendously and opens you up to so many diseases. So please take care of yourself and if you can, get your husband up and move around a little each day on a regular basis.....very good for the attitude. Good luck palmtrees.......I'll keep you in my prayers.
Thank you and the same for you. When I get home from work I go with him on his walks because I've been so stressed out worrying about him. He still can out-walk me! I wish I could work from home but I've been using vacation days to take him to chemo and doc appointments. So far the boss has been understanding. Let's hope it continues! I'll keep you in my prayers as well !!
