I just need someone to talk to.. I’ve had hsv2 for a year

[20]

I just need someone to talk to.. I’ve had hsv2 for a year now but this is the first time I’ve really found someone I genuinely care about. I told him on the third date. And he thought about if for a few days and decided it was okay he would just use protection and we wouldn’t have sex often until we new for sure about each other.. we were pretty inseparable for a month then he found a blister on his arm, stomach, and back, unsure if it was HSV with out talking to me he got freaked out and started to distance himself.. which I guess I understand it’s kinda scary and embarrassing.. it was as if he didn’t really believe he could get it and all the sudden reality struck. He still comes around and when I talk to him he still says we are talking he is just terrified to get it.. again I get that.. but I can’t help but think while he’s gone.. I’m really not worth a lifelong embarrassing std. I guess less that I’m not worth the risk but that a relationship that may not even go anywhere isn’t worth trying just to risk getting it.

@Kat.rob sorry to hear that. It has been 2 years for me as well & I still can't believe I have it. I am not trying to make you feel worse at all. I haven't dated since my diagnosis. I am terrified to tell anyone about this. & where I am from it will spread like wild fire. I get advice on here & read the articles but it doesn't change how I feel. If I was in someone else's shoes I wouldn't continue a relationship if he told me he had herpes. It would scare me that's just a humanely response it sucks but its the reality of the situation. Its always great to hear when things work out for others. I really hope he comes around & things work out for you guys. Sorry again I feel your pain.

@Kat.Rob:
just to make a point, i never passed my HSV2 Gen to anyone that i know of while dating, AND i ALWAYS told them beforehand.

...they NEVER rejected me. they must have seen something in me that superseded having HSV.
remember, i abstained from sex so much they thought i was gay!
