has anyone had a covert narc who starts out portraying the nice guy. at the beginning of devaluation admits they are an a**hole and tell you they mind control and use people? Any ideas what would motivate them to "confess"? I'm just curious want to learn as much i can so i can better spot them.

@ToughCookie99 mine admitted to doing mind control like he's proud of it. He did these tirades where he just tore me apart and I smiled and agreed to everything. Then later I'd ask if he was serious and he'd say yes, then no and go back and forth and then ask me why I agreed the whole time. so confusing i had to just disengage entirely

My ex, out of nowhere said “I don’t think anyone over 25, can ever say they were used”. I had never encountered a Narc so I didn’t know any better. Another red flag was him telling me he gets bored easily, like it was my responsibility to keep him entertained.

Why didn’t I run for the hills at that point????!!! Hindsight...

@Rue171
I have never met anyone so strange. Its so true they are proud of it and you just stare at them in complete disbelief of what is playing out before you. You feel like you are in a really bad movie. This guy would boast at how good he is at coning women. He said its because he believes his own lies. He said it in such a creepy way, smiling at reveling in his achievement. You are so right, disengagement is the only answer. They don't hide it very well and its so disturbing to bare witness to the machinations of sociopath.
