A friend sent me a text this morning saying he was talking to another one of our friends about my marriage with my narcissist husband. He said he told our other friend that he doesn't think I'll ever leave him, and that the other friend had agreed and said misery loves company I guess. This isn't the first time our friend has said something like that to me. I wanted to say something in return but I didn't. I know the timing has to be right for me and no one else knows when that is, and no one but me truly understands what it's like. Have any of you had a similar conversation with someone, doubting that you'd leave a relationship with a narcissist? What did you say to them?

@zee4ward God is so good. Divine intervention saved me and I'll never doubt that!

@LivingOnAPrayer I remember the first time I went home after getting rid of the monster. It was amazing. I also distinctly remember my very favorite WOW moment....let me share: 4 days after the DVO hearing (which was successful!), my house was vandalized with nothing stolen...go figure! Thank God I wasn't home or it could have been me. I stayed at my Mom's for a few days til the shock wore off from the break-in. That Saturday after all the muck, I was sitting in my mom's recliner watching food network shows at 10:30 in my PJ's! It suddenly dawned on me that I was FREE to sleep in, free to watch what I wanted, free to wear my PJs on a Saturday, and free to sit in a recliner at 10:30 a.m.! It was amazing and I looked at my daughter and said "can you believe it?...it feels SOOOO good!" She knew exactly what I meant because she hated the step-dad from hell (and she hates no one). No dread, no boss, no sour puss, no meanness, no yelling at me, no CONTROLLING ogre in my life. The chains were gone. Ahhhhh! I remarried in 2014 and my current husband is so not like that and I still feel free and very happy! I LOVE it! I am happy in my own home. I can remember when I wasn't!

@kelly72 I love that, I'm happy for you! I know I'll reach that moment of happiness and freedom one day if I keep working for it. Thanks again!
