The days following a multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis can be overwhelming. The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) is here to support you on your MS journey.
MSAA's three-part video series, "A Roadmap for the Newly Diagnosed" answers a myriad of questions for the newest members of the MS community, including:
How to manage different emotional responses to an MS diagnosis
How you can build a healthcare team that you can trust
And where to find support, resources, and relevant programs
The first video in the series, "A New Diagnosis: Is What I'm Feeling Normal?" features Jong-Mi Lee, an experienced family nurse practitioner from the Stanford MS and Neuro-Immunology Clinic and MS community member, Amanda Bastien. This video shares insight on how to manage this significant life change and navigate conversations about your diagnosis with friends and family.
"Building Your Healthcare Team" featuring Dr. Barry Hendin, Chief Medical Officer of MSAA and MS community member, Sherrie, discuss how patients can build their healthcare team, what to look for in a provider, and even what questions they should be prepared to ask during appointments.
In the final part of the series, Kara Barton, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from the Keck Medical Center of University of Southern California, partners with patient advocate and Co-Founder and CEO of We are ILL, Victoria Reese, for "Support for the Newly Diagnosed." This video covers unique opportunities, resources, and programs that patients newly diagnosed with MS can participate in and assess which ones are right for their needs.
