I struggle on a daily basis to try and overcome infidelity.

I struggle on a daily basis to try and overcome infidelity. I have bad dreams, disturbing visuals, and I feel like I always have to know where he's at or who is talking to or texting. We have been together for almost 5 years. Recently I was informed (with valid proof) that he was cheating on me. I learned it was with his ex-wife. In fact, this was happening before we got together and apparently continued into our relationship. I am told that it was not sex but sexual acts(foot jobs, BJ). To me it doesnt matter, cheating is cheating. Am I being unrealistic about this? I think our relationship was a lie from the start. In the process we bought a house together, remodeled the entire thing. Recently, he gave me an engagement ring. Sometimes it seems like its all about sex, and if it doesnt happen I feel like I am dirt. I need some input please!!!!

I am so sorry you are going through this. I understand how you feel and it really drives me crazy. My ex boyfriend told me the same thing, that he was glad he got caught because he felt “stuck” and now he can stop. When he told me this, I honestly felt like it was ridiculous that he said that. How are you glad you got caught??? Why couldn’t you stop before I caught you?!!! So that I wouldn’t be this heart broken and destroyed?!
