Hi guys! I am really grateful that I have found this group.
Hi guys! I am really grateful that I have found this group. I am 20 years old and I found out I have genital herpes about 2 months ago. My first outbreak was a really scary, painful and isolating experience. I broke up with my ex soon after. They were my first relationship and the person who gave it to me. I was having doubts before I got herpes, but after going through that much pain and them not apologizing, it was obvious that they could not give me that emotional support I needed. It has been really hard these past 2 months and I honestly have been terrified about finding someone who would want to me with me. I have been avoiding these feelings as I was focused on school, but now that I have more free time, I know I need to do more research and taking steps to acceptance because I am tired of feeling this way. I fortunately have been able to find a friend who also has herpes, and I am really grateful to be able to talk with them. My friends without herpes have been really helpful also, but its difficult since they can never truly understand how I am feeling. Im glad I started looking into support groups, since it helps a lot to have someone who also has herpes simply say that I will be okay, and that I am worth love and intimacy.

Dec 26@Samb8 Welcome to the group. The way you are feeling is normal, but just one step on the journey to a new normal that will be a lot like your old normal. You are worthy and deserve to be loved and appreciated. One thing HSV is good for is weeding out the ones who are undeserving of your heart. Please read the pamphlet at the top. It has a lot of helpful and empowering information. Please read the posts on here from others going through very similar situations. There is also a post of mine about why someone can and will love you when you have HSV. If you have more questions, need support, or have good news to share please post to keep us updated. Good luck on your journey.
