Hello I have had hsv-2 for a few years and am taking suppressive meds everyday. I finally met a woman I love and we have been dating for a few months I have been outbreak free for almost a year but I’ve just had a flare up and I’ve been avoiding sex and yes I know I’m a horrible person for not telling her right away but I didn’t want to scare her away so now I don’t know how to tell her ? Should just tell the truth and say I’ve had it all along or say I’ve just starting getting symptoms because it can lay dormant for a while and now it’s popping up I just don’t want to lose her I care about her so much and I hate this virus

@a_survivor

We have been having sex since we started dating and I havnt had any outbreaks and have been taking suppressive meds but now I have an outbreak and have to tell her either I’ve had it the whole time or try to sell that I just started getting symptoms and that I’m the exception and the virus has been dormant so it doesn’t seem like I have been cheating either way I’m a ****** person I just don’t know what to do

@Billybuddy96
be straight up, come clean, then accept what happens...
it's the mature thing to do...

@Billybuddy96, I wish and hope the guy I’m dating says something. I got HSV-1 from him. I think if he were up front and honest about, it would have allowed me to protect myself better. I agree with @a_survivor, if you care about that person genuinely, just tell them. And accept what happens…
