Hello everyone, I have a question. I know it’s recommended

Hello everyone, I have a question. I know it’s recommended to increase consumption of L-lysine. Is it possible to still eat foods high in L-arginine if I take a daily L-lysine pill? I love peanut butter and don’t want to fully eliminate it, if possible. Also, I’m not very good with taking pills to begin with, so I always cut my Valtrex pill in half before taking halves at a time. I know the L-lysine pills are pretty large, so can I do the same with these as well? Thank you!

@a_survivor Thanks so much for your help. I’ve been a bit scared to eat foods with high l-arginine so this gives me hope lol. I’m trying to gain weight and rice and peanut butter was my go to until getting my diagnosis. I’m just paranoid because I want to avoid outbreaks as much as I can. I’ve been taking Valtrex every day so far but lately I’ve been feeling a bit achey in the groin area, but I haven’t seen any physical outbreaks. I may try the l-lysine pill and see if it helps so I can still eat my peanut butter!

work the equation the other way. start as you normally would without anything. eat normally as you normally would first.

the next OB may be very minor... have faith in your body's immune system! just don't stress or abuse your body. THAT will trigger/induce an OB!

@nic99 I eat peanut butter maybe once or twice a week and will have a handful or two of peanuts sometimes every day but I have never seen a correlation between eating them and outbreaks. The only correlation for me is high stress combined with not enough rest. I also take Lysine daily but have been cutting back to a lower dose. I hope that helps, good luck!
