I have been trying to figure out how to tell if I am married

[6770]

I have been trying to figure out how to tell if I am married to a man who is emotionally abusive. I was told once that I might be, but I don't know the signs. Could some one tell me if they know..I have searched through many books on emotional abuse, but they don't tell you the signs.

I cannot fully relat sara600, as I myself am extremely independent and try not to rely on any single other person just to get by day to day. All I can say is that if you feel trapped and oppressed in any way, to reach out to friends or family, o even a support group with greater resources like a women’s shelter if you truly felt a need to get out immediately. If your life or well being is in danger, only you can decide if it is something to run from, or something you can deal with. I hope there is someone who could help you in that way if you needed to get out of your situation, even though sadly all I can offer is my sincere empathy for your situation from the far reaches of the inter webs.

@Traveler24C I just want to let you know that am not in any danger, but there are times when I feel trapped, but it's due to suffering with agoraphobia and it isn't about him. I am thinking of seeing a counselor again to discuss my situation with. I do think that my husband is emotionally abusive, because he often criticizes me for the things I don't do, but when I do the things am suppose to do he never gives me any credit for doing them. He doesn't understand that I have a difficult time with doing somethings .

@kili123 I looked up gaslighting and my husband sometimes makes hurtful jokes about my personality and he usually doesn't agree on my points.
