The Following Is This Week's "Life Hack" From Team SG:

Apr 20, 2017

Dear Members,
First, we want to say hello and welcome to all our new members! We are seeing our membership on the site grow between 600-700 new members a week! We are thrilled to have you! To our loyal and established members, thank you for sticking with us (some of you have been here literally through thick and thin--when the site barely worked, was broken for days, or even at one point shut down completely)! It will be almost a year that we have been your New and Improved (we hope) Team here are Team SG and we are forever honored and grateful for all of you allowing us to be part of your journey towards change.

Second, we would love for all of you to check out and like our numerous social media outlets, Facebook is definitely our most active and we would love to have you follow and like us there. You can find links to all of our Social Media at the bottom of this (and every) weekly Life Hack.

Third and final housekeeping intro, we love to hear from you! We are currently looking at some of the groups that are not used on the site and we will evaluate whether to combine some of the groups or to cut them completely. We have had numerous requests for new groups and we would love to hear from you as to what would help get you the Support you deserve.

This all leads into this week’s Life Hack which is, Getting the Support you Deserve. This Life Hack will be a bit more tutorial in nature than our normal how to guide as we noticed lately that there are members who just can’t seem to get the support they need on the site. We often say it is all about supporting others on the site, but we thought we would go into a bit more detail.

“Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful. And believe that anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.”
-Misty Copeland

Please, don’t only support within your group!
It is essential to give support on the site, if you don’t, it is unlikely you will get support, so while it is wonderful to go through the feed on your individual group, please, take a look at “Why?” you may ask, glad you did! All unanswered posts sitewide are listed here, page 1 being the oldest and so on through the newest posts, please take a moment everyday to answer one old post, what a difference this would make to someone on the site that hasn’t found their support here yet!

Support members
There are two ways to do this, you can go directly to their user page, this is one of our group moderators, AnaLeigh, using this example you would go to her page and this would display, you would then click the green Support Me:
You can also hover over a member's name and the box, as shown below, will appear. Again, click the green Support button:
Finally, and very importantly, don’t support in a way that is unsupportive!
Why would we say this? Again, thanks for asking! There are so many ways to be supportive, but some things are just not supportive. An example of this would be to go into the HOCD group and assume that they are a group of people who are homophobes (this actually happens more than we can fathom) and calling them out. HOCD is, in fact, a facet of OCD and it is a fear/anxiety disorder, so suggesting that they just accept that they are Gay is akin to telling a person with OCD to accept their compulsion and just move on. Not helpful in the slightest.
We hope you find our site an amazing place to be. We could not grow at the pace we are without all of you supporting each other in such a wonderful way. We are grateful to our group moderators and active members who make an amazing place to come to.

Please remember to support those who have been here since the beginning, and those who are brand new, and everywhere in between. Going back and asking another member about a situation that occurred a few days ago shows you remember and care. Offering a greeting and welcome to those who are new keeps members coming back.

“Each person holds so much power within themselves that needs to be let out. Sometimes they just need a little nudge, a little direction, a little support, a little coaching, and the greatest things can happen.”
-Pete Carroll

Wishing you all the very best-
