@triplen your post gave me some reassurance. My husband is a narcissist, but says I am. He's mean, but says I am. And yet the people at work say how diplomatic I am and how they love being around me because I'm always so positive. Like @pickone says, whatever the narcissist accuses you of, you can bet you are the opposite. I'm going to hold onto that tonight.

@celticpebbles Absolutely hold onto that thought because it IS the truth!... The narcissist lives in a foggy world of illusion and fantasy, but reality is constantly peering through the flimsy, fake image. That is why he goes into sudden rages, lashes out, and blames his partner for all of his faults. I understand it’s hard to not take it personally because they know exactly which emotional buttons to push. They want to provoke your emotional reaction, so try not to give it to him. My ex-narc always accused me of the things he was guilty of. He blamed me for everything, talked about how badly I treated him, and said he was an abused husband. It was clear that the opposite was the truth. When he does that, it might help to make a list of the things he’s accusing you of. Then, for each one, write an example of the opposite being the truth. That way you have something in print to validate the opposite, when he’s attacking you........
