It's been a realy hard week. The stbx is all relaxed and happy about the divorce. I am the one who is grieving. That makes it harder. I feel I don't have a safe private place to grieve.

Hi PB2020, I'm sorry for all the pain you are going through right now. It sounds so difficult, scary and disruptive. Not having a place to grieve makes it so much harder. So would it help to do some grieving here on supportgroups? You could write about some of your thoughts, fears, memories, regrets, angers, hopes, dreams, etc., whatever you're going through at the moment.

I read through some of your earlier posts. I notice you said that none of the therapists in your area who take your insurance are accepting new patients. May I give you a suggestion on that score? I am doing therapy by telephone, and some of my friends are doing therapy by Zoom, Skype or some other virtual way. I find it works out quite well. So, could you find a therapist who doesn't live near you, yet takes your insurance?

@L2015, thank you. My insurance does not allow me to go more than 50 miles away if there is a specialist in the area. Since there ae therapists here, even though they are full, my insurance won't pay for me to try the next city over.

@PB2020 I am horrified at how badly your insurance is treating you. If they aren't taking new patients, then in effect they are denying you treatment. That's disgusting. Would it be OK if I made another suggestion? If it were me, I would raise a ruckus. (Maybe you've already tried these routes). I'd make an official appeal to my insurance co. I would also contact my state government and say that I'm being denied treatment even though I pay insurance. (I wonder if they are treating you more shabbily because it is for mental health rather than physical health.). I would contact my primary care physician (do you have one?) and tell them what's happening. I have Medicare, and my PCP wrote a referral so I could see a therapist. Maybe your PCP would be willing to advocate for you. Best of luck! It just isn't right that you should have to pay out of pocket when you're already paying for insurance for exactly this purpose - to see doctors!
