I am trying to figure out what else I can do to get over my 26 year marriage. I am divorced for almost 8 years and finally realized that my ex never really loved me, he only loved himself. I on the other hand, grew to love him over the years that we were married. I have friends and am very active, but just lonely. I really don't want to put in any effort in the next relationship, because I feel I will be on the losing end. What advice can you offer?

Feb 7@LifeSupport I trust myself, yes. And that means putting up boundaries. I have zero interest in ex-wives, grandchildren, health. Going forward, it is all about me. Sounds selfish, so be it!

Feb 7@mmadlecl I looked into Al-Anon and will try that as a group. I will look up a divorce care group too. Thanks! I was told 14 years for me, after a 28 year relationship. Sounds about right. I'm in no hurry to hear about grandchildren, health, and ex-wives. I used to love men and now, I find them disappointing. I try to keep busy, doesn't always happen. Take care of yourself first!
