Oh. My. God. I injured my hand and made a joke about it to a client. Then I realized my joke could be interpreted as far more inappropriate than I intended. But I wasn't sure if emailing an apology would make things worse by calling attention to it or not. I went ahead and sent a quick "Yikes--sorry" message but am praying the guy is young and cool enough that he'll just laugh it off. This after I had almost no work for like four weeks. Has anybody else ever done something that embarrassing?

Thanks so much for responding. It made me feel so much better! Most of the time, I just hear crickets on my posts. Looking back, it is kind of funny that I got so upset, but you never know these days. My mother's male cousin is visiting, and he's a retired airline pilot. I told him about it, and he was kind of laughing and said not to worry about it. Then the client emailed me and said to keep the jokes coming, so it's all good.
