never thought much about body dysmorphic disorder for mysel

never thought much about body dysmorphic disorder for myself.
My understanding it was when people would think they are fatter than they actually are.
Apparently, It goes both ways. I am overweight and think I am smaller than I am.
Avoid photos being taken of me. Everyone looks normal in them but me. I look much fatter.

@Inmylittleroom i'm so sorry that experience has kept you from getting help. i've had some pretty sh!tty therapists who have done that to me. it's why i haven't been in therapy for a while. maybe asking a general practitioner to refer you to a psychiatrist/psychologist (i don't know which one it is exactly) to get a full assessment/consultation may be a good place to start.

@Inmylittleroom this is how it is for me. If you were skinny growing up and you identify as that, you don't see the change or feel it psychologically.
I also had little luck with any therapy. I got more help here than i did anywhere else!

So it can be a problem to find a good therapist. I went to psychiatrist because therapist did not help. I think psychiatrist really did want to help. She gave me pills. Didn't help. She explained finding right pill could take some time. I decided not to. I self-helped my way out of deep depression.
