I still believe

There are some self truths you hold onto from childhood and others you collect along the way as you go from child to teenager, to young adult and then adult.  Our belief system is established in childhood by the adults that are our parents, teachers and religious leaders.  There are a lot of absolutes we learn, we learn how to pray the “right way,” we learn how to view the world in the “correct way,” we learn what is expected of us and we learn quickly that it is best to mimic rather than explore our own hearts.

Summertime Sadness

Summertime as a child was magical.  It was bursting with possibility, camps, friends, staying up late, swimming, and visits from or to the grandparents, just this huge sunny void waiting to be filled with fun.   As an adult it has become increasingly clear that summer puts a lot of strain on parents and caretakers.  Adults slip into the role of fun producer, snack maker, meal buyer and maker, trip planner, camp chauffeur…, often while working full or part time.  The end result is exhaustion.  Even without children, the fun of youth is but a distant dream.

Fighting Anxiety

At the beginning of the year we focused on the topic of Anxiety and healthy steps we could take to manage it. Almost half way through 2021, we felt it was time to revisit the subject.  We started the year off anxiously awaiting COVID19 vaccines and now, thanks to amazing science and brilliant minds, they are here!  Now the anxiety tends to linger about what is safe, what is normal now, are we back to a life where people expect us to be social and accomplish things?

Most Powerful Words

Words are powerful tools.  They can convey feelings and emotions in a way that can make you feel on top of the world or in the very depths of despair.  They can impart support and love or tear you down in the blink of an eye.  Beautiful words can make us feel like we can accomplish anything, or they can make you feel like you are worthless and will never amount to anything.
