It is hard to stay upbeat somedays...

It is hard to stay upbeat somedays, we vacillate between reading about peaceful marches, watching people being shot and killed before our eyes (it seems like a fictional horror show or thriller-not real life, RIGHT?), reading stories about people with COVID-19, going out to appointments and grocery stores with masks on and then looking around and seeing people without masks...the desire to crawl back into bed with a sleeve of Oreos is just really strong some days.

“Life is at its best when everything has fallen out of place, and you decide that you're going to fight to get them right, not when everything is going your way and everyone is praising you.” -Thisuri Wanniarachchi

You know those videos where people fill a pool with beads or something outrageous? That is what 2020 feels like-completely ridiculous. A pool full of anything besides water is ludicrous, any sane adult looks at these videos and goes, nope, no way, are you kidding me!!!????!!!! Kids on the other hand look at these videos and go, “that would be sooooooo COOL!!!”

At the moment, yes, our kids are bored, they are disappointed about camps being cancelled and bummed about not hanging out with their friends, but they are still having fun, they tend to find the bright side of things naturally. As adults we just need to look at our kids (or kids in general) and see how their innocence and naivety guide them, so take note, they see the world as their oyster, they understand intuitively how and why Black Lives Matter protests are necessary, why, because they understand that when you aren’t treated fairly you need to speak up, they wear their mask, grudgingly, but they wear them, they make up games, they make friendship bracelets for their friends, they revel in what is fun and wonderful and they leave the grumbling, for the most part, to the adults.

“For all the hard times and tough challenges I faced during different periods of my life, I think I was lucky or blessed or both. When things looked bleak, a good guide would appear to set me straight. Someone once asked me about the villains who got in my way, the bad guys who wanted to trip me up or take me out. I don't remember any. Maybe it's my nature to remember the good and forget the bad, or maybe it's my destiny to lock onto the righteous for help.” -B.B. King

As we continue to live and learn, laugh and cry...to feel all the feels, just know, we are all feeling like the weight of the world is on our shoulders, the other day when talking to a doctor, they asked, “are you experiencing any stress right now?” To which we deadpanned, “are you kidding me?” No stress at all while living during a PANDEMIC, wearing a mask, homeschooling, working, being a camp counselor and general Goddess of Fun to my children, stress...seriously? When things get tough, that is what the site is made for, we are here, 24/7, lay your burdens in our text boxes and pour out your support as well. We are in this together.

All the best-SG

“We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.”
