I’m just here for the snacks

Okay folks so here it is, I watch the Super Bowl every year and I have literally no idea what is going on. I get the basics, 2 teams, ball (which based on past years I have deduced is filled with a certain amount of air to be “fully inflated”) and then I just cringe when these LARGE men go careening through the air and and get all motherly and start with my experasterd, “that can’t be good for them!” “how do they get up after that” “that is going to hurt.” That my good people is how I watch football. I also make sure to get plenty of snacks, mostly at Trader Joes, OMG, I am obsessed with that store. The people there are SO NICE and they give you snacks and coffee as you wander around their store and, if you are like me and are there alot, they make sure to greet you and look in the back for something that just came in just because they thought you might like it! As an aside, there are all these Trader Joe’s Insta pages and they are hilarious, they make me seem like an amatuer in my devotion level.

So, in short, I watch the Super Bowl for the snacks and occasionally I am excited about Half Time Show, but you know what, I am okay with my lack of knowledge, I have tried to strengthen my game knowledge, but I am a lost cause. Now here is how I feel this all applies to you, life is like the Super Bowl, we have our highs and lows during the year, we work hard for certain goals and other things we determine are simply not working and we let them go, we stop rooting for this goal, we just admit defeat, it wasn’t meant to be. Others, we stand behind no matter how much we fail at it, we can’t help it, it is something we believe in so strongly we can’t ever give it up. Kind of like some die hard fans out there who will never give up on their teams even though they never make it to the Super Bowl. While people make fun of such die hard fans, I personally find such people incredibly inspiring, the are passionate, they believe in the team, they cheer for them, they buy merchandise, they talk about them and they watch them fail, year after year, but their resolve doesn’t waver.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” -Winston S. Churchill

What if we approached life like that, like, “Life, you may let me down over and over, but I will wear the shirt, the hat, I will pay to see you fail over and over because I know one day, you will be marvelous and I want to be here when that happens!”

In life, as in football, you won't go far unless you know where the goalposts are. -Arnold H. Glasow

I hope as the weekend approaches and the Game of all Games begins this Sunday you enjoy it with family or friends, we hope that if you are lonely you will go out of your comfort zone and go out to a bar or wings place and join others in watching the game. If you have no interest in football, take the time to do something fun and amazing, like going to the theatre and watch a movie! Or volunteer, go for a walk, go out for a fun meal. We are all suffering with one thing or another in this life of ours, but celebrate the fun times, even if it is eating the snacks and watching a game you still don’t understand...don’t even ask me who is playing! I do however know that Maroon Five is playing and that should be enjoyable, work on celebrating the small things y’all!

So be sure when you step, Step with care and great tact. And remember that life's A Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed) Kid, you'll move mountains.”
