Halloween isn't the only scary thing this year

We don’t know if it is because of COVID and the fear that Halloween will be cancelled, but people are already decorating for Halloween and we are all for it! Bring on the early pumpkins even if we are still wearing shorts and killing mosquitoes, because honestly, Halloween is the BEST time of the year! Anytime people hand out chocolate is a GREAT DAY! Dressing up, seeing kids happy, fun makeup, decorations, and carving pumpkins makes us so happy. But like everything this year, things are different, so if we have to buy and eat our own candy, wear Halloween pajamas and watch Halloween movies at home so we don’t further spread COVID, we will be just fine.

We make up horrors to help us cope with the real ones. -Stephen King

The real horror of Halloween would be if we literally put fun and candy in front of the health needs of others! We looked it up and during the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, Halloween was actually cancelled, so if our forefathers and foremothers could forgo a little fun, so can we. In 2020 we have the wizardry of pizza delivery and Netflix, so we think most of us will be more than okay.

On Halloween, witches come true; wild ghosts escape from dreams. Each monster dances in the park.
-Nicholas Gordon

We are currently living through a pandemic and guarding our very lives, everything that we hold dear is in this weird limbo state as we continue to navigate through month 7 of the pandemic. Everything that we thought we knew about life and how we live it must change. We have to take into account that everytime we go out and interact with people, we risk infection to ourselves and others. It is a whole lot scarier out there than any Haunted House could wish to replicate.

The farther we've gotten from the magic and mystery of our past, the more we've come to need Halloween.

We have learned a lot of things in 7 months, such as:
We are far stronger than we ever thought possible
Our kids can actually learn through the wonders of technology
We can wear a mask and look darn cute while doing it
We can go to scary doctor’s appointments even though our anxiety was through the roof
We can do hard things, we can deal with scary things, we can do amazing things if we put our mind to it

There is magic in the night when pumpkins glow by moonlight. -Unknown

We will continue to hope for a better and healthier 2021, but until then, be bold, be brave, be amazing, be you! As always, thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.

All the best-SG
