Giving yourself permission to be imperfect

There is a lot of unaccounted for time in our daily schedules due to the pandemic, a lot of the extras of our life have been cut out, so why do we feel so incredibly exhausted and overwhelmed? The stress of our daily life seems very present, but in a new way. Before, we worried about getting everything done, work/life balance, if we should try the new Thai restaurant that just opened up, should we go to the movies or grab a drink with friends, now it is, should we go out to the grocery store and risk getting COVID?

Give yourself credit for the person you have become

It seems like years have passed since March, but unbelievably we are only in month 5 of the pandemic (here in the United States). Having almost reached the six month mark, it got us thinking, have we accomplished enough, done enough, but then we remind ourselves that we survived the day and happily slink off to bed with a good book and hope for a vaccine to be created tomorrow! It feels like the days slowly go by, but the weeks and months have gone by quickly, odd how that works right?!

When your Year Throws you a Curveball

Up until Mid-March, it felt like life was going really well, it was 2020, that felt momentous somehow! In the midst of life, how we previously knew it, work, working out, school in a physical building, not a mask in sight, things felt like they were on track, not perfect, but on track. The sun was shining and the birds were singing, but then news stories started focusing on an illness that was making people sick in China. That felt really far removed until people on cruise ships and in Europe started getting sick too.

Are we there yet????

As an online and free Support Group site, we try to find the silver lining in our weekly or sometimes, bi monthly blogs, but something about 2020 has zapped even our enthusiasm. The numbers of COVID-19 infections continue to rise like a storm in an end of civilization movie. The wave keeps rising and people, humans who we expect to be civil, kind, slightly intelligent and express an attitude of wanting to help out their fellow human, have overwhelmingly shown themselves to be lacking in decency.

Coffee talk

In case no one has ever told you this, tea and toast make most things better, add a little Nutella to the toast and you have magic, add in a good book to this dynamic pair and well, we are off to the races! With all this time at home, our energy level often fizzles off around 10 a.m. no matter how many cups of coffee we drink. The million and one questions a day from the kids on their every 20 minute break from school, which happens a room away from where we are working, has gone from bothersome 6 months ago, to the thought that maybe if I hide under my desk they won’t find me.
