Hi! My name is Alex, and I'm quite sure that I've had bipolar disorder for a while now. Because of COVID, I haven't been able to go to the doctors, but I don't want to ask my parents to take me because I think that without an actual diagnosis they might just think I want attention. Does anyone have any suggestions at how I can subtly hint at having bipolar disorder so that when I go to the doctors my parents don't just think that I'm making stuff up?
Thanks so much,
-Alex

Feb 17regardless of what you think they will think you need to get help, if you are questioning whether or not you are bipolar, then chances are you have "something" that could stand to be checked out. I doubt it is just youthful struggles. Bipolar is generally pretty easy to map out, though there are other possibilities as well. If it is getting that bad, then talk to them.

Feb 23Like @JustDavid said, you should go to the doctor anytime you think you have or show symptoms of something serious. Your parents should/need to understand that you have to go to the doctor to be diagnosed(and I say go over a video/phone appointment bc you might need blood tests done to see levels). One thing you can do is make a physical list of anything/everything you might need to ask a doctor about to show them so they know you're not wasting their time. I really hope you get to go so you can sort/figure things out.
