Ok, so not sure if you guys can help me out but I guess I am

Ok, so not sure if you guys can help me out but I guess I am trying to find out exactly what my husband’s issue is and how to deal with it. He was diagnosed with bipolar/personality disorder last year and I am struggling accepting that is what is actually going or is he just a selfish, pathological liar. He is on two different meds, one is a mood stabilizer and the other an anti-depressant. (Up until the medicine he had two moods, completely annoyed or mad.) The main problem I have is that he constantly lies - even about the most arbitrary things. And even if he is caught in the lie, will still not accept that he lied and try to twist it around as if there was a loophole in the question. He has had a few emotional affairs (which I’m pretty sure were also physical but he won’t admit it), tells me that the phone bill was wrong, he denies that he missed payments on bills yet I will be literally looking at the notice saying we did and he still denies it and has racked up over $100k in debt and tells me that he “told me” about the loans he took out and I just forgot. Tracking the money is almost impossible because of balance transfers and closed accounts and he deletes everything…I finally told him I’ve had enough and that I wanted to separate and he tells me he can change. I want to believe him but this has been a repeated behavior for the last 15 years and started out small and has completely spiraled out of control. Even though he has been in “off and on” therapy for almost two years, plus meds, he still lies. I feel like every time I catch him in something, he doesn’t change, he just finds a better way to hide it. Have any of you gone through this before and made a successful change?

@mattmiller360 my therapist also mentioned histrionic. I'm just not sure at this point but I feel like I am nuts.

@BriHereNow thank you, he doesn't understand that. He says that he takes his therapy seriously and when I say that he is still lying, he says he's not and asks when he lied. I tell him "like two weeks ago!' and he just says I keep bringing it up...

Wow, just read your story.....I 'm so sorry you had to experience that. I can empathize with what you describe with the BiPolar.....but as far as the lying.....that's a new one on me....I have not heard of lying, especially habitual lying as any part or symptoms of BiPolar....but I could be wrong....
