I am frightened right now. I have had what I thought was a mole on my chest for about a year. Last month my general surgeon saw it and said he was it taken off. I had to go under the knife on 9/11, and I am waiting on the results of the biopsy. It is a really unnerving to say the least. The site of the excision is itchy so i've been having to take Benadryl which makes me tired. I almost fell asleep driving - didn't realize it would hit me that hard. Anyways, I just am asking for prayers and support through this whole thing.

Uncertainty *is* hard to deal with. I've been dealing with melanoma for the last 8 years: lots of surgery, lots of "what ifs". Meditation has helped me to be OK with not knowing how things are going to turn out, and to see the anxiety as just my over-active imagination. As @comfortablynumb says, the odds are in your favour. Even if it does turn out to be something bad, treatments have come a Long Way in the last decade. Also, just in case you have need of it, there is a "skin cancer" group on this site. Best of luck, and let us know how it goes.

One more thing: you can get spray-on Benadryl which cures the itch without making you sleepy - if you can get it close enough to the wound. A Q-tip might do the job.
