If everyone got it the first time, there would be no need for support groups or AA meetings. Alcohol addiction is a struggle and the struggle is over a lifetime. It does get easier to stay sober but every one is always at risk. Many times someone that is 30 days sober is at lower risk than someone with 20 years, of relapsing. As Irish shared, you begin again. As many times as it takes and sometimes it takes a few. I started drinking after 12 years of sobriety. Now I have 17 months. I am going to keep trying until I get it right.
