I need help. Please. I'm married to an alcoholic who is a chronic relapser. She is a very good person but she's either been drunk or dry drunk since we met. We both have kids from previous marriages and mine are with us full-time but they dont want to be here anymore. She gets scary and when she's drunk she has actually tried to bruise herself to blame to call the cops and blame me.
I understand addiction I am clean from drugs for 2 yrs 10 mos. I'm trying to not leave but her behavior and constant relapsing is making it very hard. Last night she told me about her plans to relapse "so bad she'll never come back." She is trying to hold me & my girls hostage with this threat. I just don't know what to do.

As horrible as it is you have to put your children first and remove them from this situation. What is happening today will set a president on how they view and value themselves even perhaps causing them to become alcoholics in the future. Separating from your wife does not mean you don't continue to help her by getting her into re-hab, etc. but you must NOT allow your children to live afraid. Be the dad they need. Also please pick up or download the book, "Boundaries in Marriage" by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. Help is also available at 1-800-NEW-LIFE and at focusonthefamily.com or 1-800-232-6459. These are Christian resources but they saved my life and my families life. Please consider these resources today.

Thank you.
I'm getting to the point where I feel depressed over this and it's time to get my girls and run.
