As of yesterday I have 60 days sober after a long road back from my 2 years of sobriety. Like a lot of alcoholics I was convinced I could moderate. That was a joke my enemy played on me. It took a year to get back to this point. I will say that I am using a medication that is helping emmensly. PLEASE no negative posts about this. I believe we should do whatever helps us get clean. I am using a program ( not AA ) for support and encouragement because a pill alone won't work. I feel so much healthier using a Fitbit I received for Christmas as my go to when lonely , bored, angry, sad etc.

To all that are struggling YOU CAN DO THIS. If you don't believe it, I will believe it for you. Message me if you would like some mutual support. We all need moral support along the way

Naltrexone is used for alcohol and opoid addiction with good results for nicotine. Also low doses are used for pain management.

@Ducktape from my research my understanding is that it blocks the serotonin and dopamine receptors so there is no pleasurable feelings when trying to bet high.

Congratulations on your 61 days! I was just talking to a friend who uses meds and she says it would be impossible without them. So, I agree each of us is different and if it takes prescribed meds to stay sober for today, then it is worth it. Twelve step programs like Celebrate Recovery have also proven invaluable for my walk with sobriety. Thank you for posting!
