I was adopted at birth, I have never talked to people who had been adopted to see if they experience similar things I have. I found out a year ago I had BPD and the rejection and abandonment are greatly enhanced inside of me. I learned that was part of having BPD, but has anyone who has been adopted experienced fear of rejection and abandonment who doesn't have BPD? I guess to top it off when I was 5 my dad who adopted me left and didn't have much to do with me once he had a son with his new wife. My step dad has been in my life since I was 6 and he is such a wonderful dad, but I still have these fears to the point I push people away or find that I sabotage relationships before I get hurt.

@nafta I've been to both and it's still such a huge battle. Retraining my brain after 40+ years has been so difficult. Things have improved but not like I had hoped. It's still such a battle every day. Thanks for the words though they won't be forgotten and will probably be read several more times.

Hi I don't have BPD but was adopted at birth! I'm 49 and have just started seeing a counsellor about some of the issues you have spoken about. I just joined this group yesterday and came across your post. I would like to talk to you about adoption if your interested?
