I am new here, so not entirely sure how this works.
I work away at sea, and while on a contract in the caribbean, I was mugged at gunpoint alongside two of my friends. One was assaulted and ended up in hospital. The man placed a gun against my head and told me he would kill me. Afterwards, I was offered 30 minutes of phone counselling, before being put back to work for the remainder of my contract.

Upon my second contract, I disembarked early due to panic attacks, and was diagnosed with PTSD before rejoining my vessel.

Some months later, I was on a night shift with an older male. This person would grab me inappropriately. After I went out one night with other colleagues, this person came. Other people left, leaving me with this person.

He bought me shots and told me he was my boss and that I had to drink them. I was extremely drunk when we made it back to the ship. He took me back to his cabin and asked me to strip. I said I didnt want to but he told me that he was my boss. I was sexually assaulted by that person and after reporting it, I was laid off work until the person in question could be dealt with, which went on my record as time off.

I have since struggled, not knowing how to talk about it and releasing in alcohol and gambling. It is now spiralling out of control, and I want to take my life back.

I apologise if this is in the wrong place or tagged wrongly.

Thank you for listening.

That's what brought all of us here to be heard. Just talk we will listen

All I would say is pray about it. God is on the throne 24/7. You may have to make some changes to your lifestyle, but he is always listening and ready to meet you half way. Give him a try.

Thank you for sharing your story. I am sorry for your situation but you are taking the right steps in finding a support group/community. I would also highly recommending counselling. It always comforting to hear others opening up and sharing - to know you are coming from a different situation but still struggling with the same things. It makes me feel like we are all in the same survival boat together.
