HAPLO Transplant

Has anyone undergone a HAPLO transplant by mismatched sibling?

We have news that the unrelated donor and coed donor search were a dead end they are now saying the brother that was a 50% match will be ok for a HAPLO transplant. Makes NO sense to me. If ur not a match for donor transplant why is he now ok for a HAPLO. His brother has some ongoing health issues and neck surgery coming so he might not be available. Other option is to test the kids. One of which is only 13 sigh

The whole thing has me very nervous as the risks continue to get substantially higher for Dale. He can not continue on Chemo forever his body is just exhausted. He is having clotting issues now and has a 2nd clot in his right arm as of Monday the CT scan showed no real sign of the mass so they are pushing for transplant in about 3 weeks

any advice or wisdom in this area would be great

Doing ok. Stem Cell is driving us nuts not following through with what they say they are going to do. His brother postponed his back and neck surgery so it looks like Haplo is the transplant chosen. Dale has to under go another round of Chemo on the 15th to keep in a good remission since stem cell won't be ready

I will post more tomorrow after my conference with the doctors

thanks for checking on us

Thanks for the update. How terribly frustrating!!! Am sorry to hear Dale's brother has these other issues, and know he must want to get this done too. Hang in there and please find time for yourself in all this. Tell Dale I am praying for him!
Hugs, kb
