Depo Provera To Relieve Heavy Bleeding of Perimenopause

I've had three injections of Depo Provera to force my system into full menopause in the hopes of ending heavy bleeding. Sometimes (many times) my bleeding is so pronounced I live in fear of embarassing myself in public by soiling chairs I sit in because I've had yet another flood. I skip work a lot also because the bleeding makes sitting for lengths of time (call center) uncomfortable both physically and emotionally. And, the clotting, is so bad sometimes i've estimated the length of one to be abt 3-4 X abt 3/4 of an inch. The Depo Provera is supposed to end these symptoms. I opted for it in lieu of a more invasive procedure. I want to avoid surgery if at all possible. Anyone in the same or similar boat that I'm in?

I'm only 16. The urgent care dr put me on depo yesterday for similar bleeding. However I have a UTI which spread to my kidneys and an ovarian cyst on my left ovary. My detailed story is on my page called after seeing the doctor. I hope something works for you soon!

I just got my first shot of Depo Provera today, due to very heavy bleeding and clotting that was causing me problems at work for about 1 day/month. I said yes to the doctor without doing any research. All I know is that the more invasive procedures that he told me about didn't sound appealing. A shot sounded so harmless and easy. He mentioned bloating and 1-2 lb weight gain in some women, and possible minor depression. I wish I'd thought it through and said no. As soon as I got home today, I went on the internet and saw that 99% of stories were bad. HUGE weight gain, depression, loss of sex drive, mood swings, and on and on. Now I am having anxiety just thinking about the side effects and it's only been about 10 hours since I received my shot. I've already planned to not go back on April 8 as they told me to. My mind is racing, and I'm anticipating that I will have 12 weeks of hell as I wait for this hormone to run its course in my body. I guess I'd rather have heavy bleeding and clotting than any of the side effects that I read about. Any advice or words of encouragement from women who have been on Depo Provera for heavy bleeding would be much appreciated. Am I panicking for nothing? Thanks.
