My Journey

I am a 59 year old female with Indolent Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I spend a lot of time researching the cancer and don't usually like what I learn, but it is what it is!!

I was diagnosed in late Sept. of 2009 only after my spleen was removed and biopsied.

The watch and wait routine sucks, but I should be grateful that I don't need treatment. It is kind of like being on Death Row and not knowing when they are coming to get me.

This is my 3rd cancer diagnosis, the first was melanoma when I was 28, it was caught early and never spread, then about 5 years ago I was told that I had lung cancer. I had a horrible cough for over a month and eventually coughed up a small amount of blood. I went to my primary doctor, had an x-ray and was sent for a CT the next day. The next step was to flush out my lung and then a PET Scan.....all positive. I went in for a needle biopsy and the spot was all but gone, so they did a follow up CT a month or so later and the spot was gone.

I know that there is no cure for NHL so I am grateful for every day that I am cancer free. However, I have stopped living a real life. I keep thinking, what if I travel out of the country and I get sick? I have a son over seas and I am afraid to travel that far. What is that about???? 6/4/10

Today was a new day as usual. Nothing significant going on here and I am happy about that, but that is the way I should feel when I have cancer.
My life has been in a turmoil lately with my psycho daughter in law making my son's life a nightmare. That is getting better and hopefully by the 15th. that drama will be over.
