Starting down the IVF Path

I did some research on my weight having an effect on the success of the IVF, and although my weight is not good for me, it will not hurt our chances of becoming pregnant. Then I started thinking about my asthma and how it would affect our chances of getting pregnant, and after some research found that it can actually help us. I will have to continue my medications throughout the pregnancy but at as low dosages as possible. So, this is something I will need to discuss with my pulmonologist and my fertility specialist when we go in for our consult.

I spent most of the day yesterday searching for websites and support groups for people that are going through IVF. I was able to find out some information about the process itself, enough that I have a few questions to ask our fertility doctor when we go. At least with the research that I have done, and the help of my wonderful friend who has been through a successful round of IVF, I was able to read some success stories. Reading of other couple’s success helps me to have hope that we too will be lucky and one day have children of our own.

I am very nervous and very anxious because whether the IVF works or not, this is our final attempt at having children of our own.

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby since we got married almost 14 years ago. We have been through three fertility specialists and did everything we could but not IVF because we just could never afford it. We are still saving for it and I am 39 now. So I have the age thing to worry about now. And when I say we have done everything we have, I have bought fertility kits off the internet, that clear plan easy fertility computer, and even done the turkey baster myself (actually it was a push syringe without the needle of course) but nothing has worked for us. The doctors have always said that we had unexplained infertility and that there was no reason for me not to become pregnant but I still have not. I do not know how much you weigh but trust me I have seen many people give birth when they weighed 300+ pounds so I do not think weight has anything to do with it. (I hope that puts your mind at ease) As for your medications you and I are in the same boat there because I have multiple auto-immune disorders and take medication daily. I too will be cutting down the medications to the bare minimum if I ever get pregnant. Right now I take a monthly pregnancy test to make sure I know the minute I would become pregnant as not to hurt a baby.

If we ever get the money for IVF I know we will have one shot and it will be our final attempt too.

So if you ever want to talk, email me through this site and I will give you my personal information.

Thanks, and Good Luck

Ann
