My battle with anorexia
I'm a 28 year old female from canada. Have been struggling with anorexia since i was 14 years old. I am now finally trying to get help for it. With doctors and therapists. I am finding it very hard to eat as much as they want. I have replaced most of my food with just coffee for the las few years.
I am lucky to have such a supporting mother who calls me everyday to tell me how proud she is of me. It means alot that she is around.
All I am looking for is other people who understand wha i am going through. As much as my friends try and say they understand they don't really.
Silver Skye...I'd like to welcome you also, and I hope you will find the site to be a safe supportive place for you. I am so happy that you are getting help for the eating disorder. You can recover, and getting the proper help is critical to allowing you to move on with your life.
That's awesome that your Mom is so caring and supportive! I'm sorry your friends don't 'get it', but it's hard for someone to understand without some education. Is there anyone close to you who might want to go to therapy with you and learn about this so they can be a support for your recovery?
Please share more with us, and I applaud your brave efforts to recover. You can do this!! Take care...Jan ♥
Silver-Skye,
I'm so happy that you are getting help! You can definately get through this!! I know how it feels to now want to eat as much as your therapist says. A good day for me is eating what a healthy person eats in one meal. It just seems like im eating way to much if i have all three or six small ones.
It warms my heart to know how supportive your mom is. And we are all proud of you too!!
Keep posting!!

you've definitely found the right place to be understood and supported! welcome!
how long have you been seeing your therapist? of course they are logically right to set that meal plan, but if it was that easy to stick to it we'd do it...
take it as maggie says. any bit you eat more in comparison to the day before is progress. of course you can't go fromm only coffee straight to 5 meals a day. take it step by step. maybe start with coffee plus a yogurt for breakfast. see if you can eat more throughout the day without total panic. then after a while, maybe add a small fruit to the coffee and yogurt, and so on.
healing and recovery needs a lot of time, especially when you've been dealing with ED for so long.
keep us posted!
love
maedi
