Day after Day

My father verbally abuses my family. I came on this site to get help and to hopefully find the inner strength that I need in order to persevere.

Hi blueberry24, Sorry to hear about your father verbally abusing everyone. How old are you? Are you living at home? Are you able to talk to your father about this? Is there anyone who can talk to your father? If he starts verbally abusing you, then walk away. Leave the house if you have to. If you can't walk away or leave the house when he starts then go to a pleasant place in your head wile he is doing this. Keep us posted on how you are doing. We are here for you. ((((hugs))))

Thank you so much. You have no idea how much your message means to me. I'm 20 years old and I live at home when I'm not in school, so during the summer and winter break I'm at home and during the school year I dorm in Brooklyn. My father is extremely hard to talk to. He is so set in his ways that when I try to communicate with him I doesn't listen and he automatically says no to what I have to say. We never had a good relationship and there are times that I put the blame on myself because he tells me that I'm not good enough and all of the bad things that happen are because of me. I try not to let all of the negative things he says to me get to my head too much but it's hard. I primarily talk to my boyfriend about my problems. He's a very good listener and even though he can't completely be empathic towards my situation he is an amazing part of my life. Thank you so much for your kindness again, it means the world to me that there are people out there that care.
